About Me

"I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become."
C.G. Jung

Thank you for visiting my website. My name is Glenn Pennington. I am an EAP provider approved Psychotherapist and Counsellor accredited with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).

I hold an M.A. in Existential Psychotherapy a Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I have a Mental Health Nurse qualification (RMN) and have trained to level 3 in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and in Clinical Hypnosis with the British Society of Clinical & Academic Hypnosis (BSCAH).

I have over thirty years experience counselling within various settings that include the NHS, private hospitals, residential addiction treatment programmes, the Third Sector and in private practice where I also work as a Bupa recognised Psychotherapist.

I have been a dedicated meditator for the past 15 years and have been running and teaching Mindfulness based therapy groups and meditation for the past 10 years.

One to one counselling
I have an interest in working with people experiencing addiction, anxiety depression and relationship issues, and in particular working with men who may find the idea of counselling challenging either because of preconceived ideas about counsellors or counselling itself, or due to the content they wish to address e.g. relationship issues, survivors of childhood sexual abuse, sexual problems, sex/pornography addiction, anger problems, victims of domestic violence.

Group Work
I teach Mindfulness Meditation for health and wellbeing and run a weekly group both in my hometown of Sudbury Suffolk and on behalf a local private hospital. I have also trained staff on behalf of Social Services, the Probation Service and a large number of voluntary organisations and self help groups.
