The Anxiety Wellbeing Clinic is held every Thursday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at The Sudbury Physiotherapy Centre, 8 Cornard Road, Sudbury, Suffolk CO10 2XA. It offers Mindfulness based CBT and EMDR therapy for anxiety, stress, depression, OCD, panic attacks, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and trauma. Time restrictions, financial resources, and personal preference have all been taken into consideration to make access to this treatment resource available to as many people as possible. All sessions and groups are facilitated by Glenn Pennington a UKCP registered Psychotherapist and RMN.  

ANXIETY WELLBEING GROUP

This group runs for 4 weeks and takes place Thursday mornings from 10 a.m. until 11.30 a.m. The group is kept intentionally small at between 2 and 8 participants, all of whom will be experiencing anxiety and/or stress. Each session lasts 1.5 hours and includes an educational slot, putting theory into practice, a short break for refreshments followed by discussion, and sharing if you wish to do so, all within an atmosphere of friendliness, support and humour.

Aim of the course: To learn skills and attitudes that enable a preventative and calming response to anxiety and stress through the use of Mindfulness based CBT.

The Goals of the course: To prevent, eliminate or minimise unnecessary anxiety and stress.  To engender confidence in managing feelings, thoughts and sensations, that had previously felt debilitating and life restricting.

If you don’t like the idea of being in a group let me reassure you that there are some genuine advantages to receiving help in this way. Below I have listed some of those advantages:

  • You realize you are not alone in what you are experiencing.
  • Group members learn from each other (everyone has something to offer).
  • Group therapy can be less intense.
  • Group members can receive and give support to each other.
  • You get a fresh perspectives on your own experience and situation
  • Just being with others in this setting can be therapeutic (especially in cases of social phobia) 

All potential participants will be required to have a short informal assessment with the therapist (Glenn) prior to joining the course. The assessment is performed via telephone and is free of charge.

ANXIETY WELLBEING COURSE IN ONE TO ONE SESSIONS

This is a similar course sharing the same Aim and Goals as the group sessions. This course is spread over 6 x 1 hour individual sessions.  One to one sessions offer more flexibility, and the content can be specifically relevant and paced to meet the client’s requirements. 

COST PER SESSION: £50 paid at the commencement or end of each session.

 

POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER (PTSD), TRAUMA, & EMDR

If you are experiencing PTSD or the effect of a traumatic experience past or present please go to the 'Therapy page on this site for information on PTSD and the EMDR treatment offered at the ANXIETY WELLBEING CLINIC.

The number of sessions required for EMDR vary and depend both on the extent of the trauma and the personal response of the client.

COST PER 1 HOUR SESSION: £50 paid at the commencement or end of each session.

Cash, cheque or credit card can make payments.

Payment made by credit card includes a 3% surcharge.

* If a session is missed on the group course, the money paid is not refundable. Any sessions missed can be caught up on a future course free of charge.
